SRINAGAR: A teenager, deeply hurt after being scolded by his father, set himself ablaze Monday, in Pulwama district.
According to reports, the deceased, Aamir Ahmad, resident of Kangan village of Pulwama had an argument with his father after the latter scolded him.
Source said the deceased boy was scolded by his father over ‘waywardness’ which angered Aamir and in fit of rage he slapped his father.
Following this, the police sources said, Aamir who was a student of 11th class, poured kerosene over his body and set himself ablaze. He was immediately rushed to Pulwama hospital where from he was referred to SKIMS Soura in a critical condition.
However due to severe burn injuries, the teenager succumbed to his injuries at 1pm Monday. His brother who had tried to douse the fire was also injured.
Police said they have registered a case in this regard and started investigations. (GNS)
