Bandipora: Scribes in North Kashmir’s Bandipora District Monday staged a protest outside DC office after one of their colleagues was allegedly thrashed by a cop at a Naka near Wular Vintage Park.
The protesting scribes said that one of their colleagues Shoib Masoodi working for a local and national news paper was assaulted and thrashed by an SOG cop when he was on way to Srinagar from Bandipora. DDC Bandipora pacified the protesting scribes and assured them probe into the matter.
“I was roughed up by an SOG cop deployed at the naka without any provocation. I managed to save myself only after the intervention of an Army officer from 13 RR who was present at the Naka,” Masoodi said alleging that it has become a routine for the Naka party there to force passengers to come out from their vehicles and made them walk by foot.
A police official while denying the report of assault said that the frisking of people is done to ensure peace in the area.
