‘SC said what PDP couldn’t gather courage to say’
Srinagar: National Conference on Saturday welcomed the dismissal of the PIL challenging Article 370 by the Supreme Court and said this should serve as a lesson for those forces who are inimical to the political rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and are hell-bent on waging war against the State’s special status. NC Chief Spokesperson Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi said the Supreme Court observations should make it abundantly clear to all and sundry and especially BJP and the RSS that Article 370 is a part and parcel of the Constitution of India and cannot be challenged and whim and will.
“Refusal to entertain a PIL that wanted Article 370 removed by a bench led by Chief Justice H L Dattu is a significant development and should serve as a resounding lesson for the PDP-BJP Government in the State as well as BJP and RSS who keep whipping passions on Article 370 for electoral convenience. Article 370 is the only constitutional bridge between J&K and the Union of India and cannot be challenged judicially, nor by the Parliament”, the NC Chief spokesperson said.
