New Delhi: On the intervention of Minister for Tribal Affairs, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali, Government of India has released Rs 32 Crore pending amount of ST scholarship.
Following complaints from tribal students of Jammu and Kashmir regarding non issuance of Pre Matric and Post Matric Scholarship, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali took up the matter with Tribal Affairs Ministry in Government of India and requested them to release the amount at the earliest so that tribal students are not suffered any more. A spokesperson from Ministers office told CNS that the intervention of Zulfkar has been responded positively by Government of India by releasing an amount of Rs 32 Crore on account of post matric and pre matric scholarship.
The government of India according to spokesperson has released an amount of Rs 24,94,17000 on account of Post Matric scholarship for ST students and Rs 7 crore on account of pre matric scholarship to the ST students of Jammu and Kashmir State.
Thanking Government of India, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali has said that there was crises of scholarship in the state and students were lodging regular complaints of non issuance of the pre and post matric scholarship. He said that many students called him and enquired about this scholarship following which he took the matter with Government of India and requested them to release funds under this scheme and he is thankful to government for releasing the same.
Terming this scholarship as most important for tribal students, Zulfkar said that tribal students continue their study with the support of this scholarship which play significant role in providing an opportunity to the students of this community to go ahead and compete with the rest of students from creamy layers. He said that many students are totally dependent upon this sxholarship and they will get relief after release of the same.
Zulfkar Ali said that he is committed for the upliftment of the Tribal community and for this he is working on the models being adopted by the other states where tribals are flourishing in all sectors. He said that his priority is education to all tribal students following by stress on health issues and mal nutrition and Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is fully supporting him in achieving the goal of development and prosperity of tribal community. He said that CM is committed for development of all sections of society.
