NEW DELHI: In view of the upcoming festivities, Ford has launched the EcoSport facelift in India. Priced between Rs 6.79 lakh and Rs 10.44 lakh (both ex-showroom, Delhi), the facelifted model has been refreshed with new features and additional equipment while the diesel version also gets a significant horsepower hike.
Not much has changed on the aesthetic front in the new EcoSport, meaning it is almost identical to the previous model. Ford has however, tweaked the exteriors a bit by adding a few new styling elements such as daytime running LEDs and new fog lamps. The company has also introduced an all new Golden Bronze shade for the EcoSport with the facelifted version.
Inside, the interior features the same design and layout as earlier. The cabin has been been slightly refined in comparison to the outgoing model since it now comes with chrome treatment on inner door handles, cluster ring and cluster applique, window regulator switches and air register tabs. New equipment on the car includes a host of new features such as rain sensing wipers, automatic headlamps and electro-chromic mirror. Other features include Fords SYNC with AppLink car connectivity system that allows drivers to control their phone, entertainment and apps hands-free using simple voice commands; Bluetooth connectivity, automatic climate control etc.
Powertrain options remain unchanged in the new model but the 1.5-litre diesel engine has now been re-tuned to deliver 100PS of maximum power- an improvement of 10PS over the previous model- and 205Nm of peak-torque. The diesel engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and delivers an ARAI-certified fuel economy of 22.27 km/l.
The petrol versions of the EcoSport are offered with a 1.0-litre EcoBoost or a 1.5-litre TiVCT motor as before. The award-winning 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine churns out 125PS and returns 18.88 km/l. The 1.0 Ecoboost petrol is offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The 1.5L TiVCT petrol engine is rated at 112PS and is offered with both a five-speed manual transmission as well as a six-speed dual clutch PowerShift automatic transmission.
With the facelifted version, Ford has also introduced an all-new competitively priced Trend+ variant. Safety net in the car includes up to 6 airbags on top-end models whereas all the other variants, except for the base, get ABS and EBD fitted as standard. The mid-range variants come with dual-airbags.
