JAMMU Installation of 1000 portable petrol pumps in the state will be taken up with the concerned Union Ministry so that petrol can be made available to people living in inaccessible pockets where the oil companies have not been able to provide this facility so far.
Minister for Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution and Tribal Affairs, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali said this while addressing a meeting of the representatives of Alinz Buying House and the officers of CA&PD and Legal Metrology Department here today.
The Minister was informed that these petrol pumps are suitable for tourist destinations, agricultural areas, rural areas, flood hit and disaster prone areas. These petrol pumps, having a capacity of 35,000 litres, have an inbuilt power back up and can be installed in just two hours time.
These petrol pumps will reduce the scope of adulteration to a large extent and will work on satellite internet communications system, he added.
The meeting was attended by Joint Director, CA&PD Mansoor Aslam, Joint Controller LMD Amar Singh and other officers of the concerned departments.
