Srinagar: Militant outfit Hizbul Mujhideen Saturday said that one of its militant commanders Fayaz Ahmed Bhat attained martyrdom while fighting the Indian forces in North Kashmirs Tangmarg area.
Hizb Operational Spokesperson told Srinagar based news agency CNS on phone that Fayz along with his associates was on a mission when the Indian Army personnel fired upon them.
There was an Army ambush and Fayaz lost his life during the brief gun fight. However, his other associates managed to escape from the spot, he said.
The Operational Spokesperson added that Fayaz Ahmed Bhat was an active militant and was in the field from past six years. He was an active member of Burhanuddin Sarhadi Squad and had participated in various successful operations against Indian Army in border regions, he said and added that Hizb Operational Field Commander, Divisional Commander North Kashmir and Deputy Supreme Commander Saifullah Khalid have paid rich tribute to the slain militant and have expressed sympathy with the bereaved family.
Pertinently, locals in Devbugh area of Tangmarg found the body of HM militant in a paddy field on Saturday morning. (CNS)
