Slain Youth Were Our Members: Hizb

SRINAGAR: Claiming that the three militants whose tortured and bullet-riddled bodies were found from an apple orchard in Pattan Monday were its members, militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen Tuesday accused Special Operation Group (SOG) of J&K Police for the killings and rejected the presence of any militant outfit by the name of Lashkar-e-Islam.

“Amir Reshi, Ashiq Hussain and Naveed were associated with Hizbul Mujahideen. They had recently joined our fold. However, the agencies and the notorious Task Force killed them in custody. Our enemy demonstrated their cowardice with these killings,” Hizb chief Syed Salahuddin, according to the outfit’s spokesman, said while addressing the meeting of command council today.

Salahuddin claimed that the Lashkar-e-Islam was a non-existent outfit and that the government was attempting to deceive people by claiming that rivalry between the two were the reason behind the killing of the three youth.

The Hizb chief also extended support to the shutdown call of pro-freedom leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani for Wednesday. (GNS)
