Protesters block roads, police calls it suicide
MAGAM: A day after bullet riddled bodies of three youth were found in Pattan town, police Tuesday recovered body of 35 years old Manzoor Ahmad Reshi from Kunzar area of Tangmarg Baramulla.
Reshi, a resident of Gonipora Kunzar according to reports had allegedly strangulated himself by his own shirt.
SDPO Tangmarg said that post mortem report confirmed that it was a suicide case. Refuting the police claim, the family said that Reshi had been murdered by unknown persons and police must investigate the matter thoroughly.
The death of Reshi sparked protest at Narbal, Druru, Kunzar and Tangmarg. Youth resorted to stone-pelting and blocked Tangmarag-Gulmarg road. Reports said that agitated youth attacked private vehicles with stones and smashed windowpanes of many vehicles to enforce a strike.
Police used tear-smoke shells to disperse the protesters. A police official said that situation was brought under control and bottlenecks were cleared for the smooth flow of the traffic. A case has been registered under section 174 of CrPc. The doctors who conducted the post mortem confirmed that it was not a murder but a suicide case, SDPO Tangmarg said. CNS
