ANANTNAG: Nehru Yuva Kendra Anantnag Thursday launched an awareness programme titled District Youth Convention in many villages of the district aimed at educating the masses about various schemes the state and the central governments come up with from time to time.
Ghulam Hassan Sheikh, ADC Anantnag, was the chief guest of the function held at Dakbunglow Khanabal.
The speakers highlighted the importance of the schemes and discussed, at length, the ways and means to implement them.
The meeting informed several schemes and programmes were being implemented throughout the country for the welfare of the people.
Due to the lack of proper awareness and education about the welfare schemes and programmes, they usually do not reach the target audience as desired and planned, the meeting informed. As a result a vast gap is created in the services, delivery system and utilization.
The speakers said that a sizeable proportion of the population didnt know about the benefits of such schemes and programmes. It affects the expected outcome of the schemes and programmes and the scenario invariably breeds and promotes corruption and discontent in the society, one of the speakers said. The participation of the people in the national flagship programmes viz. Pradan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna , Swach Bharat Mission and Motivation for and facilitate construction of toilets under Nirmal Bharat Abiyan, Sansand Adarsh Gram Yojna practice must be ensured.
