BANDIPORA: J&K Legislative Assembly, headed by MLA Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen, Friday, inspected the ongoing conservation programme of the world famous Wular Lake.
The MLA informed Rs 120 Cr was approved for conservation and management of Wullar Lake under the 13th Finance Commission award. An amount of Rs. 60 crore has so far been released by the government of India in this regard.
The state government in 2012 set up Wullar Conservation and Management Authority (WUCMA) to implement the plan.
Yaseen was informed that dredging work in the Lake was going on in full swing and over 28000 trees had been removed from the water body till date.
