Army soldier injured in Kupwara

SRINAGAR: An army trooper was injured critically after his service rifle went off accidentally at Chokibal area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday.

A police official said that Sepoy Deeraj Kumar of 22 Grenadier who was performing his sentry duty at Chokibal army camp when his service rifle went off accidentally resulting in his serious injuries.

The injured trooper was immediately shifted to military institute Drugmulla where from he was referred to army’s 92 base hospital here in Srinagar for specialized treatment, the official said.
