Vehicle carrying illicit timber seized, 2 held

KUPWARA: Forest Department Monday seized a huge quantity of illicit timber in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

According to the reports, a team led by Range Officer Tariq Ahmad acting on a tip off raided at Wardpora and seized a vehicle bearing registration number JK0T -5962. Some 88 sq.feet of Deodar timber being smuggled Udhampur from Kupwara was recovered from the vehicle.

Two persons Darshan Lal and Jeevan Singh of Udampur have been arrested in this connection. The duo was later handed over to concerned police station.
