Youth Drowns in Pulwama, Shop Damaged in Fire

SRINAGAR:A 19 year old youth drowned in river Jehlum in Pulwama while a Shop damaged in fire in Kupwara, police said Monday evening.

Inayat Mushtaq son of Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat resident of Kandizal Pulwama drowned in river Jehlum at Kandizal while taking bath. Police and locals of the area fished out the body and handed over to his next of kins for last rites.

Police arrested a drug peddler and recovered 37 bottles of codeine phosphate from his possession.

A police party of Police Station Bijbehara led a Naka at Tulkhan Bridge. During naka checking one person Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Dar son of Mohammad Yousuf Dar resident of Tulkhan, Bijbehara was intercepted and 37 bottles of Rexcop (Codeine Phosphate) was recovered from his possession. Bijbehara police have registered a case FIR number 162/15 under section 21/22 NDPS Act against him and investigation was taken up.

Three persons died while eight others were injured in two separate road accidents in Sopore and Islamabad.

In Sopore, a Sumo bearing registration number JK05/1920 collided with a Scootybearing registration number JK05E/2495 at Sangri Top. In this accident, one person Abdul Hameed Bhat son of Abdul Rasheed Bhat resident of Astingoo died on spot and injuries to seven passengers boarding the vehicle. All the injured were shifted to hospital for treatment where one of the injured Fayaz Ahmad Fafoo, son of Habib-ul-lah resident of Astingoo succumbed to his injuries. Sopore police has registered a case in this regard.

In Baramulla, a forest vehicle bearing registration number JK01C/3700 loaded with forest wood logs turned turtle near Asha post Gulmarg, resulting in death of the driver Mohammad Rafiq Millo son of Noor Din Millo resident of Brandoub, Rafiabad. After completing medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites. Baramulla police has registered a case in this regard.

In Islamabad, a Motorcycle bearing registration number JK03D-3608 met with an accident at K.P. Road near Alsarwat School, resulting in injuries to motorcyclist Rouf Ahmad Ganie and his pillion Mohammad Shafi Wani residents of Anchidoora, Anantnag. Both the injured were shifted to hospital for treatment. Police have registered a case in this regard.

The police statement added that fire broke out in the shop of Abdul Hamid Khan resident of Maidanpora Lalpora Lolab , Kupwara, resulting in partial damage to the shop. Fire tenders and police brought fire under control.
