Patwari thrashed over flood cheques

Srinagar:  A Revenue Official was shifted to hospital for treatment on Tuesday after a flood victim thrashed him in his office at Chanapora Srinagar.

Eyewitnesses told CNS that a flood victim from Naik-bagh Natipora Noor Muhammad Ahangar thrashed Pat-wari Chanapora Showkat after the later refused to give him a cheque on the name of his wife. The flood victim according to Patwari had already taken a cheque and now he was demanding another on his wife’s name.

“The assailant hit Patwari Sahb with helmet. He fell down and blood started oozing out from his ears and nose. He was taken to hospital by locals,” an eyewitness Rouf Ahmed told CNS.

When contacted a police official from Chanapora po-lice post said that the assailant has been arrested and a case under relevant sections has been registered against him.
