Infiltration bid foiled along Sunderbani sector: Army
Poonch: An army man was shot at and injured by a Pakistani sniper in Poonch district on Tuesday, while an infiltration bid was foiled in Sunderbani sector of the neighboring Rajouri district of the Jammu region.
Officials told Srinagar based news gathering agency GNS that Lance Naik Jitender Kumar of armys 12 JAT was performing his duty at Bandi post along the LoC in Poonch district when a sniper from Pakistan Rangers fired a single shot towards him around 10.00 am today, officials said. Kumar, they said was instantly evacuated to 425 field army hospital Poonch. His condition is said to be stable.
In the neighboring district of Rajouri, army said it thwarted an infiltration bid by a group of militants in Sunderbani sector of the LoC.
Three unidentified militants wearing Pathani suits were trying to sneak into Sunderbani sector through Sukhtao Nala around 6:30 am today. When challenged, the militants opened fire towards our soldiers and retreated, an army spokesman said.
Army, he said returned the fire and foiled the infiltration bid. However, the spokesman said no casualties were reported in the exchange of fire.
