More HR abuse in PDP-BJP rule, claims Geelani

Blames forces for creating 90-like situation in Kashmir

Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (G) on Tuesday said that the pro-freedom conglomerate was receiving complaints of extortion by the police from the families of the youth arrested in a series of nocturnal raids across the city.

“Some parents of the arrested youths complained that police is demanding hefty amount as penalty for the release of their wards otherwise they are warned of slapping PSA against them,” a Hurriyat spokesman said in a statement issued here Tuesday. The spokesman said that with the onset of the holy month of Ramadan, the police have started crackdown against the youths of the many areas of downtown. He said dozens of innocent students have been arrested and detained in different police stations where they were being subjected to worst kind of “custodial torture”.

“Many youths have gone underground to evade arrest but the police is continuously harassing their families. They are being warned of arrest in case they fail to produce their children before police,” the spokesman said.

“Scores of youths of Nawakadal, Rajouri Kadal, Kawdara and Zaina Kadal areas of downtown have been locked up in different police stations from last 15 days. However no case is registered against them,” he added.

The spokesman also expressed concern over the renewed process of crackdowns by the Indian army in different villages of Pulwama district where people are forced to wait in long queues for hours and then paraded in a “humiliating way”.

“This 90s like situation has created fear and threat among the common people of those areas. Many people have left attending late night Ramadan prayers at the Masjids,” the spokesman said.

“Since the inception of the PDP-BJP alliance, the human rights violations have shown an increasing trend and a war like situation has been created from Jammu to Srinagar against the common people,” he added.

The spokesman demanded release of all the arrested youths and other political prisoners before the Eid.

Meanwhile the sernior Hurriyat activist Muhammad Yousuf Naqash claimed that the fresh arrest spree of youth, mostly school-going kids was “a well planned conspiracy.”

Naqash in a statement said that the innocent youth are being haunted and arrested during nocturnal and pre-dawn raids and tortured and detained. “This policy of victimization will be counterproductive and will escalate the already uncertain situation. When their future prospectus is destroyed they will have no option than to think of extreme alternative.”

Naqash appealed international community and World Human Rights forums to take some serious interest against the day to day Human Rights Violations in Kashmir. He said in respect to the Human Rights Violation the Kashmir Issue was more dangerous and sensitive other the Palestine, East Timor, Bosnia, Sudan, Ireland, Ukraine and other disputed territories of the World.

Lashkar vouches for Kashmiri separatists

Says Dulat’s book part of Delhi’s anti-Kashmir plot

Srinagar: Militant outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba Tuesday defended Hizb Chief Syed Salahuddin and other Hurriyat leaders saying that the allegations leveled on them are baseless while the fact is that Syed Salahuddin is the soul of Kashmir Freedom Movement.

In a statement to CNS, LeT spokesperson Dr Abdullah Ghaznavi, quoting the chief of the outfit Mehmood Shah said that it is a part of the strategy from India to resort to character assassination of freedom loving leaders. “In past as well India resorted to such corrupt practices and even it physically tortured those who raised voice against its occupation. Every plot of India in Kashmir has failed and will fail even in future,” LeT chief said.

He appealed people of Kashmir to take care of the families of the martyrs and others who have suffered at the hands of India during the sacred month of Ramadhan.

“India’s days are numbered in Kashmir. This country has been putting all illegal means to quell the freedom struggle. We must not worry. The blood of martyrs will demonstrate its true and sacred color. Unity is the need of the hour to stand against enemy and people should cooperate with Mujhadeen to exterminate the pro-Indian agents/infomers,” Mehmood Shah said. (CNS)
