Cop shot, injured in Kuthua

SRINAGAR: A policeman was wounded Monday morning when some unidentified gunmen fired upon him in Kathua district.

The incident happened when some car-borne gunmen showed up at Kuthua’s Shahidi Chowk around 9:20am and fired upon a constable Jagdish Singh. After firing, the gunmen managed to flee in the car.

As the police launched a manhunt, they recovered the car with Punjab registration number at some distance from the spot.

The police said the wounded cop was shifted to district hospital Kuthua and was later referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu for specialised treatment.
