Srinagar: Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) today expressed deep anguish over thrashing of doctors by some miscreants at SKIMS medical college Bemina.
In a statement, President DAK Dr Nisar ul Hassan condemned in strong words beating of doctors while they were discharging their duties.
A female doctor yesterday who was on night duty was physically assaulted by some hooligans and when other doctors objected they were mercilessly beaten.
These episodes of doctor thrashing have become a routine and there seems to be no end to them and it is very difficult for doctors to work in such a hostile atmosphere.
This mad pattern of atrocities perpetrated on doctors has created a fear psychosis among medical fraternity which has adversely affected patient care.
Hospitals have become hub of hooligans who come in the night to harass doctors on duty.
The reason for aggression against doctors is patient dissatisfaction with the care they receive because of poor health care in hospitals.
Policy makers have failed to improve the health sector and doctors have to bear the brunt and face public wrath.
Authorities in order to cover up their inefficiencies project doctors as villains and have broken age old bond between doctors and patients.
Government has failed to ensure safety and security of doctors and revamp the flawed health care system which is responsible for aggression against doctors.
