Eidgah Tehsil Office Remains Locked


Srinagar: The continuous absence of Government officials from Tehsil office Eidgah Srinagar Thursday prompted the local residents to lock the office.

People, who visited Tehsil Office Eidgah to get their flood relief cheques and for other purposes alleged that from past two weeks Tehsildar, Naib Tehsildar, Revenue Officials have never bothered to visit the office.

“We always find a peon here. Every day we after day long wait, return to our homes with grim faces. These officials instead of attending public spend their time at home,” one of the elderly protester Muhammad Sultan told CNS.

The protesters forced peon to come out from the office and locked it. “You just check yourself, it’s 2:30 pm and still the chambers of Tehsildar, Naib Tehsildar and Revenue Officials are locked,” an agitated protester told this reporter.

Most of the protesters both male and female were flood victims. “I have been visiting this office from past two weeks to get a flood relief cheque but due to absence of the officials, I am unable to get that,” said a widow Fatima Banoo.

Despite repeated attempts at different intervals, Tehsidar Nusrat Aziz did not bother to pick up the phone.
