PSO Mistook Shadow of Animals as Militants, Opens Fire

SHOPIAN: Panic gripped Wachi area of hopian district on Wednesday night when the security guards of a senior People’s Democratic Party worker allegedly fired couple of shots in air after he ‘mistook’ animal shadow as that of a militant.

Residents said that, a security guard attached with the PDP senior worker Athar Hussain, after opened fire after he mistook the shadow of some animals as militants.

“The incident occurred at around 11:30 on Wednesday night. We woke up after hearing continuous gun shots. We thought that some militants might have attacked the PDP leader but that proved wrong when we came out to assess the situation,” said a neighbour of the PDP leader.

Confirming the incident a police official however said that it was a misfire denied that any such incident occurred in Wachi Constituency while another official said that it was a misfire.
