Srinagar: J&K High Court Bar Association Wednesday strongly condemned the killing of Sheikh Altaf-ur-Rehman.

In an Executive Committee meeting held under the Chairmanship of Mian Abdul Qayoom, Advocate, the Bar Association paid tributes to Sheikh Altaf.

While expressing shock over the killing of sheikh Altaf, the Bar President in a statement said that right from 1988 Sheikh Altaf had been “persecuted” for involvement in the freedom struggle. “He was arrested in 1988 and detained in red six interrogation centre for several months without being produced before any court of law or informing his family members about his whereabouts. In the interrogation centre he was tortured to such an extent that the marks of violence were still visible on his body.”
