Srinagar: A day after Kashmir legislator Engineer Abdul Rashid unfurled State flag in city centre Lal Chowk, another legislator and former Minister Hakim Muhammad Yasin Monday said that all the leaders irrespective of fol-lowing different political thoughts should join hands to persuade government of India to restore 1953 position in Jammu and Kashmir.
We must show a united face and fight for the resto-ration of 1953 position. It was good to see Engineer Ra-shid unfurling our own state flag but we can restore the sanctity of this flag if we all press for the restoration of 1953 position. Before 1953, we used to have our own Prime Minister and we were enjoying autonomy. Time has come when shun our differences and fight together for the restoration of our autonomy, Hakim Yasin told CNS adding that it is our birth right to wave our own state flag.
He said that State Flag has lost its charm in Jammu and Kashmir despite the fact it is present on all the im-portant government establishments. We can restore its charm by waving it everywhere. There is a need we start to honour and value it. I hope people of Kashmir will un-furl it everywhere and will observe Flag Day on June 7 of every year, he said.
