Srinagar: An army soldier died Monday after he fell from speeding vehicle following an accidental fire from his service rifle near Bemina in the city outskirts.
A police official said that the soldier Sepoy Chander Mohan (belt no. 13772953) of 28 RR was on way from Srinagar to Kupwara in an army convoy when his service rifle went off accidentally near Bemina in outskirts of Srinagar city.
He suffered bullet wounds in neck and subsequently fell down from the speeding army vehicle.
Mohan suffered multiple injuries and was immediately shifted by fellow colleagues to armys 92 base hospital here where doctors declared him brought dead.
Mohan belonged to Akhnoor, Jammu and his body has been sent to his native village, the official said.
Meanwhile, an army soldier Sanjev Kumar (No.3206940 N) of 45 RR was injured gravely after his service rifle went off accidentally inside camp at Z-Galli area of Machil sector in north Kashmirs Kupwara district, the official said.
The injured was immediately shifted to military hospital Drugmulla for treatment, the official added. (GNS)
