Srinagar: Senior NC leader and former MP G.N. Ratanpuri was allowed on Monday by the deputy Commissioner Pulwama on court directions to stay in the official government quarter that earlier was allotted to Finance Minister.
A single bench of Justice Hasnain Massodi had issued the notice after hearing advo-cate S N Ratanpuri who submitted the DCs order (No. 260-DDCP of 2015) was in utter disregard to the directions by the court on May 1. The court had observed that no enquiry as directed by the court was conducted by the deputy commissioner before issuing the order on June 2.
It is stated by counsel for the petitioner and rightly so that the order per se amounts to contempt of the court, Justice Massodi observed and issued the notice to the deputy commissioner, Neeraj Kumar with a direction to the registry to list the case on 9 June.
On May 1, the court had ordered constitution of a committee headed by Additional Director General of Police Security for objective assessment of security threat to Ratanpuri as well as to former ministers, parliamentarians and legislators who have been asked to vacate official accommodation by the government.
