Chadoora:  Pesky power cuts and scarcity of drinking water sparked anti-government demonstrations in Kral-pora Chadoora area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Monday.

Eyewitnesses told CNS that scores of protesters mostly females took to streets and blocked a key road for several hours causing disruption in the smooth flow of traffic.

“For the last five days our area is reeling under dark-ness. Not only this, we have been facing acute shortage of drinking water. Our women folk have to fetch water from other areas,” said a protester.

After several hours of protest, civil and police officials rushed to spot and assured the protesters that their grievances will be addressed.
