Srinagar: All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) Thursday expressed concern over the killing of a Sikh youth in police firing in the Gaddhigarh area of the Jammu division. The Committee has demanded for a judicial probe in the incident and immediate suspension of the concerned police officials.

In a statement to APSCC Chairman, Jagmohan Singh Raina said that the members of the community were busy in a purely religious function which was objected to by the police. Raina said that the police officials worked under the influence and directions of some hardcore elements which are part of the government.

“Every year Sikhs assemble to pay tributes and respects to Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale, who was heading a religious organization namely Damdami Taksal Amristar. This has been going on for years now normally without any interference from outside. The police action is highly condemnable and is an infringement in the religious affairs of the Sikh community,” he said.
