Mirwaiz chairs joint meet

Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Monday convened a joint meeting of executive council, general council and working committee members at conglomerate’s headquarters here.

In a statement Hurriyat (M) said all the heads and representatives of Hurriyat constituents were present in the meeting. “The meeting took detailed stock of present political situation besides discussing the organizational matters.”

While terming the recent statements of Union Home and External Affairs ministers regarding Kashmir dispute as contrary to the historical realities and situation on the ground, it was stated in the meeting that such statements were being made with an intention to deny the realities of political situation prevalent in South Asia.

“It was stated that Kashmir is an internationally recognized dispute present on the UN agenda and statements of denial about its existence by anybody can’t change this stark reality,” the statement said.

While rejecting the “unrealistic and aggressive approach” adopted by the Indian ruling class in handling the Kashmir issue it was stated that Kashmiris have always resisted such an approach and would continue to do so in future. The participants stated that Kashmiri people would not get cowed down by such an aggressive approach and would continue with their struggle for the right of self determination.
