Army opens fire along LoC in Poonch

Poonch: Army last evening opened fire in Mendhar sector along the line of control (LoC) in Poonch district  after observing suspicious movement.

Official sources said that army’s 21 Punjab Regiment manning the LoC near Peela Post opened intermittent fire from 9:00 pm till 11:00 pm last night after they observed suspicious movement in the area.

However, there was no response, they said.

A senior army official while confirming the incident said that a group of 7 to 8 militants tried to sneak into this side in the area last evening. However, the troops deployed along the fence foiled there attempt.

Meanwhile, army today launched search operation in the area throughout the day, sources added.
