Srinagar: Doctors Association Kashmir Thursday expressed its serious concern over repeated attack on medicos across valley.  The Association said that these attacks have shown alarming  uptrend due to non serious attitude shown by the authorities. Dr Abdul Hamid Dar was attacked by miscreants on Wednesday at SDH Chrarie Sharief.

“Dr Abdul Hamid Dar was being pressurized by the attendants to examine the patient at home, which he refused. Later the patient was brought to the hospital with scores of attendants. The attendants resorted to violence without provocation and beat the doctor and the staff on duty. FIR has been lodged and we expect a speedy action from the police,” DAK president GM Mir said in a statement .

DAK said that before this incident Dr Arif was assaulted at SDH Langate and Dr Muzaffar at SDH Nagam in recent past. Similarly doctors at Kupwara were also assaulted few days back. “DAK has been asking  time and again for an ordinance against violence in hospitals but our repeated pleas have gone to deaf ears. DAK has decided to wear black badges on Wednesday (May 27) across the state to condemn such incidents and push for an ordinance,” Association said.
