SRINAGAR: Five labourers were injured after a part of under Construction Bridge collapsed at Vodhpora area of Handwara in north Kashmirs Kupwara district on Wednesday.
Reports said that late today afternoon a part of bridge collapsed at the time when the men were at work beneath the bridge connecting the Kupwara-Srinagar highway with several villages including Magam, Neilpora and its adjoining areas.
In the incident, five men sustained injuries and were shifted to nearby hospital for treatment, they said.
Meanwhile, while confirming the incident, SHO Chogul, Showkat Ahmad it and identified the injured as Reyaz Ahmad Dar of Ranger area of Chadoora, Budgam, Mohammad Yousf of Beerwah Budgam, Mashooq Ahmad Malik of Shahtul Bandipora, Javid Ahmad Shah of Vodhpora and Jernail Singh of Doda.
Meanwhile, concerned R&B executive engineer said that labourers sustained minor injuries when the hallow block caved in. He however said that an inquiry has been ordered into the incident to known its real cause. gn
