Shopian: Militants Braek Free From Army Cordon

SHOPIAN: Two Hizbul Mujahedeen militants late last night gave a slip to army before injuring as many soldiers at Heff Shirmal in this south-Kashmir district.

A police official said that, “acting on a special information about the presence of militants at Heff Shirmal, a joint team of Army’s 55 RR and SOG laid cordon of the area, Tuesday evening.”

“As such the joint team intensified the searches, the two militants had opened indiscriminate fire”, official said, adding that the forces retaliated the fire ensued a brief gunfight between the two sides.”

The official said that, “two soldiers sustained bullet injuries in the intial firing incident and were immediately shifted to Army’s 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar”.

“Later in the night the two militants while taking advantage of the darkness managed to escape from the spot”, official added.

Meanwhile, the joint team of security forces launched searches in the adjoining areas of Heff-Shirmal to track down the militant group.
