Anganwadi workers resent termination order

Kupwara:  Anganwadi workers and helpers Tuesday staged a massive protest against government decision to terminate them from the services in Jammu and Kashmir.

Scores of Anganwadi workers and helpers assembled at Press Enclave and denounced the government circular that directs the authorities to terminate the stop-gap and adhoc arrangements of Anganwadi workers and helpers.

Pertinently, State Mission Directorate, ICDS, J&K in its written order duly signed by Mission Director ICDS Mukhtar-ul-Aziz reads that, “in compliance to the directions issued by the Administrative Department conveyed vide number SWD/ICDS/55/2015 dated 17-4-2015, all stop gap/adhoc arrangements of Anganwadi Workers and Helpers who have been made without established procedure are hereby terminated with immediate effect. The Drawing and Disbursing Officers shall not entertain any claims of wages of such engagements,” the circular reads.

Denouncing the government circular, president Anganwadi workers and helpers Association, Mymoona Nazki told CNS that it is sheer injustice towards these poor female workers who have been appointed under proper procedure. We demand that this circular should be called null and void otherwise 3500 Anganwadi workers and helpers will come on roads in coming days,” she said adding that instead of providing some succor, the government is adding their woes.
