Srinagar: Appreciating state government for taking effective steps to rehabilitate flood affected people of the state, senior leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today demanded that in the same manner the farmers whose standing crops have been damaged due to incessant rains be compensated and process should be expedited in all parts of the state in general and Kashmir Valley in particular to mitigate suffering of the farmers as early as possible.
In a statement issued here today, Nizamuddin Bhat, ex-MLA and general secretary of the party has expressed concern over the widespread damage to standing crops due to heavy rains in Kashmir region.
Various deputaions told Bhat that the heavy rains have damaged standing crops in Kashmir Valley. They appealed to the government for immediate relief to the affected farmers and urged the Revenue Department to depute teams to the affected areas for carrying out survey to assess the losses.
PDP leader demanded for timely announcement and dispensation of appropriate compensation to the affected farmers. Appreciating State Government for taking emergent steps to provide relief to destitute, PDP leader said state government has already taken effective measures for the rehabilitation of flood affected people and hoped that the government will mitigate the sufferings of the farmers in the same manner.
