Srinagar: Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah Tuesday called for a protest-cum-shutdown in Tral against the killing of a student Khalid Hussain Wani.
In a statement DFP said, A delegation led by Shah left for Tral to participate in the funeral prayers of the martyrs but was intercepted by police at Boh Awantipora and arrested. Shah along with his associates including Freedom Party general secretary Moulana Muhammad Abdullah Taari, Molvi Bashir Ahmad, Mukhtar Ahmad Sofi and dozens of party activists.
Shah while paying heartfelt tributes to Khalid and Muhammad Younis, said, Were extremely indebted to these valiant souls and by offering precious blood they have doubled our responsibility to take the martyrs mission to its logical goal.
Terming the death of Khalid as one more tragedy, he rejected the statement of Police chief and said it has become a routine for them (police) to issue such statements or term them militants after killing the innocent people of Kashmir.
