Srinagar: Eminent writers, scholars and poets will participate in Sonth, the Jammu and Kashmir Literary Festival. The three-day fest will be organized at at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC).
Minister for Finance, Labour Employment and Culture Dr Haseeb Drabu will inaugurate Sonth on March 28.
The event is spread over five business sessions. Sonth will focus on the changing life and times of Jammu and Kashmir as reflected in art, literature, media, cinema and other creative works.
The panel of each business session shall comprise litterateurs, opinion makers and artistes of high merit.
After the inaugural session at 11 am, the first business session of Sonth will be organized at 2 pm the same day, on the theme of Women and Youth in Literature, Art and Alternate Media of Jammu and Kashmir.
The session will begin with a beautiful cultural presentation. After this, the panelists will lead the discussion, moderated by the anchor. After the initial phase of discussion, session will be open for audience interaction. Each session will be structured in the same way.
On the second day, viz. March 29, the second business session of Sonth will be organized at 11 am on the theme, Adab, Siyasat aur Sahafat (Literature, Politics and Journalism). On the same day, the third business session will be organized at 3 pm on the theme, Islam in Kashmiri Ethos.
On the third and final day, the theme of the morning session at 11 am is Contemporary art movement in J&K and its challenges. The theme for the afternoon session at 3 pm will be Protest expression in Literature, Art and Alternate Media of J&K.
Sonth is being organized by Lehar, an NGO, in collaboration with the J&K Tourism Department.
