Number of affected rise to 167 after 29 more test positive
SRINAGAR: A swine flu victim, who was admitted in Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura died on Tuesday taking the death toll of confirmed H1N1 patients to 6, an official said this afternoon.
One patient expired today who was admitted on 09.02.2015 as a case of Brain Haemorrhage (SAH) and tested positive for H1N1 also, a spokesperson of the SKIMS said in a statement. The spokesperson, however, didnt identify the victim.
Apart from the death of another person, 15 more tested positive for H1N1 in SKIMS on Tuesday, the spokesperson said. With 15 more positive cases, the number of swine flu cases climbed to 153 in the Valley.
An official spokesman said, in the Kashmir Division, 28 samples were taken for H1N1 out of which 14 have tested positive and 3 negative for H1N1 while the results of 11 cases were pending.
The official of the SKIMS said two H1N1 positive patients are on ventilator while nine are admitted in isolation ward of the hospital. 50 Residents/paramedics received vaccination today, the spokesperson informed amidst hue and cry over the non-availability of the vaccines in the hospital.
SKIMS has procured 4000 H1N1 masks and is likely to receive 5000- 7000 Tamiflu tablets. Also the list of rereagents/consumables and equipments urgently required for Influenza Laboratory at SKIMS Soura has been submitted to Principal Secretary to Honble Governor of J&K, the spokesperson added.
Meanwhile, as per status report received during the day, 71 patients were seen in OPD in GMC Jammu, 463 in GMC Srinagar, 542 in other hospitals in Kashmir Division and another 224 in other hospitals in Jammu Division.
In the Kashmir Division, 28 samples were taken for H1N1 out of which 14 have tested positive and 3 negative for H1N1 while the results of 11 cases were pending.
Further, in SKIMS, 66 more tests have been processed out of which 15 have tested positive for H1N1 Influenza.
In Jammu Division, 224 OPD patients were seen today and of the 115 samples taken so far (including 25 today) 5 have tested positive, 11 reports are negative and 74 reports are pending.
