Woman Held for For Abduction Bid of Minor

SRINAGAR: Police on Saturday arrested two persons, including a woman for kidnapping a minor from Sopore town of Baramulla district.

Haneefa, wife of Ghulam Nabi of Nadihal Baramulla and her accomplice Tariq Ahmad Gazi of Kergam Handwara, were caught by the locals on Saturday afternoon when they were trying to abduct a minor boy near Brath Kalan area of Sopore, official sources said. 

The accused had come there in a Sumo (JK14-9661) and when they tried to bundle minor Zuhaib Ahmad Lone, son of Javid Ahmad in the vehicle, the boys cries caught attention of the passersby. Some people caught hold of the duo when they tried to flee. 

The accused were handed over to the police party that reached the spot,” sources said, adding “The vehicle that was used in the failed abduction bid was also seized,”

Meanwhile, police have filed a case under FIR no. 13/2015 u/s 511, 361 RPC against the duo and started further investigations. Further details were awaited.
