ANANTNAG, JANUARY 28: In order to aware the unemployed educated youth about various employments oriented programmes and schemes of the Government, 2-day Employment Fair was organised at Town Hall Anantnag here today.
While inaugurating the Employment Fair, the District Development Commissioner, Anantnag Mr. Tasaduq Jeelani said that organising of such fairs is to aware the educated unemployed youth and common masses about various Government schemes and welfare programmes.
The District Development Commissioner asked youth to come forward and set up own income generating units for which Govt is providing guidance and financial assistance. He asked the Assistant Director Employment to register the names of the unemployed educated youth who are desirous for setting up their own income generation units.
The Assistant Director, Employment Mr. Gh. Rasool Malik while speaking on the occasion said that District Employment and Counselling Centre, Anantnag has provided voluntary service allowances (VSA) to 5746 youth during 2014-15. He said Rs. 263.87 lakhs have been disbursed as VSA up to ending December 2014, which include Rs. 86.78 lakhs to 1329 youth of Matric, Rs. 60.30 to 1434 students of 10+2, Rs. 2.19 lakhs to 28 youth with 10+2+ITI, Rs. 78.81 lakhs to 2089 Graduates & Rs. 35.60 lakhs to 466 Post Graduates and above unemployed persons of the district.
Agricultural, Horticultural, Floricultural, Handicrafts, Handlooms, Fisheries, Sheep Husbandry, Animal Husbandry, Co-operative, Industries and various financial institutions had established there stalls in the said Employment Fair & also kept printed material and products available on display.
