Srinagar: In the run up to Republic Day and 67th Army Day, Blood Donation and Awareness Camp was organized under the aegis of Chinar Corps at 92 Base Hospital located in Badami Bag Cantonment, Srinagar on 24 January 2015.
According to a statement the number of events are being organised by Chinar Corps in the run up of 67th Army Day and Republic Day.
The blood donation camp was organised at 92 Base Hospital Srinagar on 24 Jan 2015, wherein Army personnels voluntarily donated more than 250 units of blood. The purpose of this camp was to help patients requiring blood transfusion at Srinagar and nearby areas. The Chinar Corps Commander Lt General Subrata Saha inaugurated the blood donation camp and said that in last five months, Army organised the Blood Donation Campaign in Kashmir twice.
First one was immediately after floods when there was a dire necessity to recreate the blood reserves of the hospitals. During this dive, seven donations camps were held across Kashmir and over 1520 pints of blood was made available to various hospitals.
The second campaign to reinforce the blood reserves of hospitals in Valley was started on 10 Jan and todays camp was the fifth camp held in the run up to 67th Army Day and Republic Day. In the record campaign a total of 980 pints of blood has been donated and distributed among various hospital of the Valley, taking the tally of blood donation post floods to 2500 pints.
