SRINAGAR: Army and police on Saturday late afternoon cordoned off Baramulla town in north Kashmir after receiving input about the presence of militants, a senior army officer said.
The officer, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said armys 46 Rashtriya Rifles and police cordoned off Main Chowk, Sabzi Market, Fish Market and adjoining areas of the Town at 4:45 pm Saturday.
We had received input about the presence of militants in the area. Based on the input, the area was cordoned and searches were conducted, he said.
The cordon was lifted later, he added.
