Srinagar: The forces on Monday evening conducted searches in the ancestral village of slain Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) militant in Pakharpora village of Pulwama district after shots were fired by militants, official sources told GNS Tuesday.
Shakeel Ahmad Wani, the resident of Pakharpora, was killed by government forces during a fierce gunfight in the woods of Kellar area in Shopian district along with his four associates including a Pakistan Commander on January 15.
They said at around 9:35 pm, around 5 to 6 gunshots were heard near the graveyard where Wani and his Pakistan associate, Muhammad Toyib, are buried.
It seems the militants had given salute to their slain associates in the area, they told GNS. The fire shots created the panic in the village.
Soon after the incident, army and police launched the searches in the area. However, no one was arrested during the searches, the sources added. (GNS)
