Pulwama: A spontaneous shutdown was observed in the ancestral villages of four out of five militants killed in a gunfight on Thursday in Kellar woods of Shopian district in south Kashmir.
Four local and one Pakistan militant were killed in a fierce gunfight with government forces last week on Thursday. The militants were identified as Shakeel Ahmad Wani of Pakharpora, Tahir of Aglar Kandi in Pulwama, Ishfaq of Arwani in Bijbehara, Parvaiz of Batmurran in Shadimarg and Muhammad Toib, a Pakistan resident.
Local sources said the shutdown was observed many villages including in Pakharpora, Kamrazipora, Charirpora, Drabgam, Achgoza, Rahmoo, Batamadan, Shadimarg, Aglar Kandi and Arwani.
Most of shops and commercial establishments were closed in the ancestral villages as scores of people offered Fateha and thronged the houses of slain militants to pay homage on their Chaharum. (GNS)
