Kulgam: Army based at Wuzur Kulgam organised various people oriented programme under the aegies of Chinar Corps with Awam in Larikapur Behibagh and kulgam of Wuzur Area.
The mela was organised to involve people of all age groups. Various competitive games for school children, felicitation of Ex-Servicemen and Veer-Naris, distribution of utility items to the needy people, opening of new Youth Guidance Node and organization of Medical Camps were some of the highlights of this mega event. Towards the end of these events a feast for eminent citizen of the area was also held.
A total number 791 locals, 95 Ex-Servicemen and 15 Veer Naris took active part in these events. Keeping in view, the recent floods in Kashmir Valley adequate quantity of relief materials were also distributed among the attendees, which include Blankets, CGI Sheets, Tarpaulins, Hearing Aids, Wheel Chairs and Solar Lights. Among the civil dignitaries DC, SSP and ASP Kulgam were also present with village Sarpanch.
Speaking on the occasion, Commander Wuzur based Army Sector said that Army will continue extending support to the Awam in the same way.
Meanwhile, under the aegis of Chinar Corps ,a Flagging In Ceremony of Educational cum Motivational Tour Paigaam-e-Aman was organized by the Army based at Baramulla on Saturday. The event was witnessed by the parents of the participating students along with various civil and military dignitaries.
Army said that the, Paigaam-e-Aman was flagged off from Uri on January 2 to two cosmopolitan cities of our Country i.e. Chennai and Bengaluru. The journey covered a distance of more than 6500Km of which major portion was travelled by rail and the balance by road. 20 Students along with two teachers of Government Higher Secondary School, Lagama availed the opportunity to visit many important places of historical, cultural and academic significance.
