Srinagar: Police on Wednesday arrested two extortionists who were posing as militants in south Kashmirs Tral area of Pulwama district.
A police official said that acting on a tip-off, two extortionists identified as Rafiq Ahmad Bhat alias Dada and Abdul Rashid Wani, who are both residents of Tral, were arrested during a cordon placed by police.
The two persons were arrested from a particular house in Seer village when they were forcing one of the villagers to pay rupees 10, 000 for militant funding, he said, adding: a toy pistol which resembles the actual pistol was recovered from the possession of Rafiq.
Confirming the arrests, Superintendent of Police (SP) Awantipora, Tahir Saleem, told GNS that investigation in this regard is going on.
Meanwhile, the police official, said a case under 5/2015 under section 392 RPC 7/ 25 A has been registered in police station Tral. (GNS)
