If people wanted NC Govt., they would have voted for it: Akhtar
SRINAGAR: In a clear snub to Omar Abdullah, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday said it preferred governors rule in the state to a coalition with the National Conference which it accused of creating pressure tactics and playing the mind games.
Reacting to a fresh move by the National Conference to cobble up a coalition with the PDP, party chief spokesman Naeem Akhtar said that when Omar Abdullah failed to pressurize PDP by resigning as the care taker chief minister, he began resorting to new tactics.
National Conference on Tuesday wrote a letter to governor NN Vohra offering support to PDP for government formation in the state.
Former chief minister Omar Abdullah said that NC has extended support to PDP, the single largest party in the state with 28 seats.
NC is power hungry party. The people have voted for change and against National Conference. I can tell you that governor rule is better than the alliance of PDP and NC. We could have considered this option but the clear picture is that people have voted against the National Conference, Akhtar said.
He said NC has been the worst regime even by the J&K standards. It was in power in the state when youth were killed in 2010 and Shopian rapes took place. Its rule witnessed Haji Yousufs killing, cricket scandals and what not. People are celebrating that Omar Abdullah is gone.
It is ironical that the party that has been rejected by the people of the state is eager than others to be the part of the government. The present actions of Omar Abdullah are nothing but the pressure tactics to compel PDP to take a wrong step. We will take the right decision at the right time.
Akhar said that the informal channels for the BJP-PDP government formation have been going on and doors for the talks with Congress were also open.
NC WRITES TO GOVERNOR
Reiterating his support to rival PDP in the larger interest of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, NC Working President Omar Abdullah Tuesday wrote to State Governor offering support to PDP.
According to a NC spokesman, Omars communiqué addressed to the Governor NN Vohra was delivered by his close aide and NC provincial president Jammu, Devendra Rana this afternoon.
In the communiqué, Omar urged the Governor to consult the party leadership before taking any final decision regarding the future of the present Assembly and its viability in the formation of a government.
The NC spokesman said the communiqué was a consequence of the meeting of NC Core Group at Srinagar yesterday.
The ex-CM in his letter to Vohra has, once again blamed PDP, for the imposition of Governors rule in the State.
the political impasse in the state, due to indecisiveness of the PDP has led to the imposition of the Governors rule and placing of the State Assembly in suspended animation despite an overwhelming participation of the people of Jammu and Kashmir in the electoral process, the letter to Governor, as quoted by NC spokesman, adds.
