JAMMU: The Border Security Force (BSF) Director General, DS Pathak, on Tuesday said they want peace on borders but would retaliate if Pakistan fires.
Pathak rushed to border areas of Samba after situation turned ugly as both India and Pakistan exchanged heavy gunfire and motors resulting in killings on the both sides since new year eve.
Reports said the DG BSF said the infiltration could be a reason behind the latest escalation along the International Border. He said since 31st night we have witnessed three to four attempts of infiltration. The DG BSF termed the ongoing escalation between the two sides as unfortunate.
The DG BSF said the Pakistan Rangers which man the border from the other side are refusing to take protest notes resulting in no communication.
Meanwhile, the DG BSF, paid tributes to slain BSF man, Devinder Singh, who was killed yesterday during Pakistan shelling.
The ongoing clash between Indian and Pakistan forces have forced thousands to flee and migrate to safer places. There was intense shelling on Monday resulting in the death of five persons on the both sides.
The authorities in Jammu have closed several educational institutes close to border to prevent causalities.
