As MCC Ends, People Queue Up At Civil Sectt

JAMMU: With the end of model code of conduct which was in place for the Assembly elections, the people in large numbers are visiting the Civil Secretariat here these days to make the higher officials hear their grievances.

“The whole machinery was engaged in the election process. The officers were busy in the elections process besides the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) was in place. Now when elections and model code of conduct have gone I am here to clear my SRO case which is pending in the Power department,” Moin Ahmad of Kupwara told KNS correspondent who visited civil secretariat Thursday.

One of the employees of Secretariat wishing anonymity told KNS that work was adversely affected due to the polling and MCC as the officers rarely visited their offices and the files piled up at their tables waiting for necessary approval.

On Thursday officials of Secretariat were seen listening to the general public. “I came here from Ganderbal to meet the Chief Secretary for getting my file signed. This is my sixth visit and I hope that at least this time my long pending issues will be attended by the government,” Mohammed Aslam of Behama Ganderbal said.

Talking to KNS Chief Secretary Mohammed Iqbal Khanday said that their efforts were on to deal with the problems of the general people and to address their grievances. “We are here to meet people and resolve their problems,” he said.
