Srinagar: The non-payment of electricity bills for months together has been labeled as one of the prime reasons for power woes in Kupwara district of north Kashmir.
According to the officials, the power scenario in the frontier district would be better incase people make payment of the outstanding dues and use power judiciously.
There are a number of areas which have power bills pending for months and cumulative outstanding is in lakhs of rupees, a senior PDD officer said.
Apart from this, the officials said, people are using boilers, heaters and other appliances which most of the time lead to the overloading of the power grid.
People must realize that unless they use power judiciously, the power scenario is not going to get better, they said, underling that the erratic supply of power was mainly for overuse of the electricity by the consumers.
It is our humble appeal to all the consumers that should save the electricity and avoid resorting to power overloading, they said.
When contacted, Executive Engineer Kupwara told GNS that people should clear outstanding on account of non-payment of power tariff as well as use the electricity sensibly. (GNS)
