A fifteen year old boy on Saturday attempted suicide by hanging himself in Mendhar area of Poonch district.
Police sources said that 9th class student, Adil Ahmad, of Gohlad village locked his room and hanged himself. However, his mother heard his screams and broke the lock of the room with an axe and saved his life.
The boy was immediately rushed to the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Mendhar where he was operated by doctors. Boys condition is critical as he has broken the bone of his neck, said Dr Parvez Ahmad, the Block Medical Officer.
He said following his critical situation, the boy was shifted to Government Medical College Jammu for specialized treatment.
Police has registered a case. (GNS)
